Item Writing: Dos and Don’ts!

Writing high-quality test items is not an easy task. The more measurement and evaluation methods and techniques a teacher has, the better they can write items and distractors. Although the principles to be followed for exams to be reliable and valid vary according to exam and question types, some item-writing guidelines must be followed. For items to function properly, rules and guidelines have been developed by measurement experts to help minimize the error related to how the test item is written. In this training, the participants will learn about the dos and don’ts of prompt, item, and distractor writing according to Classical Test Theory (CTT).
